Baby Raquel Knight was born 9 weeks early to a young single mother. Raquel was born with numerous birth defects, including a malformed spine, legs that are different lengths, malformed reproductive organs and digestive tracks, and other issues that have kept her in and out of the Children’s Hospital of Dallas.  She is in need of constant care, and cannot undergo the necessary surgeries to correct her birth defects until she is at least 20 pounds, approximately around the age of two.

Raquel’s maternal grandmother contacted the Petya I Edwards Foundation for help. Raquel’s mother has been forced to quit her job to give the necessary 24-hour care to her infant daughter, and only has the help of the baby’s grandmother.

The baby’s mother has remained optimistic, but both Baby Raquel and her mother desperately are in need of both financial and emotional support.  The Petya I Edwards Foundation, a Dallas-area non-profit organization with the goal to empower families to take control of their situation and prevent homelessness, has stepped in to help Baby Raquel and her mother, but the Foundation is seeking the support of the local community.

Founded in 2009, The Petya I Edwards Foundation is a unique non-profit organization that believes in empowering people to help themselves.  Its unique program allows a tailored solution for each family. The Foundation offers invaluable resources as well as life-saving medical supplies, food, and other items to the families they serve. Generous donations from the local community and sponsors make this kind of support possible.

Every child deserves a chance to live in a stable home and every family deserves a chance to find hope. To join the foundation in changing the world, one family at a time and help Baby Raquel, contact the Petya I Edwards Foundation.
